Dear  Alumni,

We offer you the information from the Office of Alumni Affairs U.S Department of State.

You are invited to participate in two upcoming Q&A Live discussions in April:  

Food Security and Agricultural Development Issues

Patricia Sheikh, the deputy administrator for the Office of Capacity Building and Development in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service, will join State Alumni for a Q&A Live discussion on food security and agricultural development issues. 

Sheikh is charged with overseeing all capacity building endeavors, including those associated with food assistance. She also coordinates the U.S. government's foreign policy objectives as they relate to capacity building. Her extensive work in agricultural affairs, including her role as the architect of USDA's Africa strategy, as well as the USDA's North Asia trade policy strategy, puts her in the unique position to tackle the complex problems associated with food security. She welcomes your questions on food security and assistance. 

The discussion will take place on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, from 20:45-21:45 (Bishkek time)

April State Alumni Member of the Month: Cristina Poleacovschi from Moldova

The State Alumni Member of the Month for April 2010 is Cristina Poleacovschi. Through her leadership in organizing a number of community service and volunteer activities, Poleacovschi has helped alumni of various U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs to promote mutual understanding and extend the ideals of their international experience to the greater community in towns and cities across Moldova.  Poleacovschi is an alumna of the FLEX and Global UGRAD programs.

Посольство США в Кыргызстане совместно с инициативной группой выпускников программ Государственного  Департамента США проводит IX ежегодную встречу выпускников   образовательных и обменных программ, финансируемых Государственным Департаментом Соединенных Штатов Америки. 

Время: 22-го мая, 2010 г.

Место: Будет сообщено дополнительно

Ежегодная встреча выпускников собирает выпускников всех программ,  с целью установления и укрепления связей между выпускниками, и обмена идеями.

4.       CALL FOR INTERESTED CANDIDATES TO THE POSITION OF PRESIDENT OF THE KYRGYZSTAN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (KAA)

The position as President of the KAA is a one-year volunteer position.  The President must be willing to coordinate the activities of KAA, work with the Board, alumni, regional associations and partner organizations.

·         Commitment to serve as a President for one-year term

·         Leadership potential/experience

·         Initiative and creativeness

Президент АВК на волонтерской основе осуществляет управление Ассоциацией в течение одного года. Президент координирует деятельность Ассоциации, ведет работу с выпускниками, региональными ассоциациями и партнерскими организациями.

·         Желание работать Президентом на волонтерской основе в течение одного года

1.       ATLAS CORPS PAID OVERSEAS FELLOWSHIP POSITIONS

Atlas Service Corps seeks nonprofit leaders from around the world to apply for their 2010-2011 fellowship positions in Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; Seattle, WA; Bogota, Colombia; and New Delhi, India. Expenses are paid in this prestigious fellowship program, including a living stipend, health insurance, and training.

Applicants must have 3 or more years of experience in the nonprofit sector, a college degree, fluency in English (1 year of experience and Spanish proficiency if applying to volunteer in Colombia), and a commitment to return to their home country after their Fellowship.

Candidates from around the world are placed at outstanding host organizations in the U.S. including Ashoka, Asian American LEAD, Grameen Foundation, International Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and Population Action International. Atlas Corps (www.atlascorps.org) is an international program identified as a “best practice in international exchange” by the Brookings Institution that develops leaders, strengthens organizations and promotes innovation in the nonprofit sector through an overseas fellowship of skilled professionals addressing critical global issues. Atlas Corps seeks an energetic self-starter for the Development Director (DD) position. This new position is for someone eager to be out of the office building relationships and also comfortable writing the intricate details of a proposal. The DD will take a blossoming development and communications strategy to the next level of maturity. This individual will report to the CEO and will work with the six-person national and international staff.

3.       INTERNATIONAL GR PROJECT VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

International GR Project is seeking for 2 short-term applicants for the following positions:

Paid  Intern/ Assistant (for 3 months / not less than 4 hours per day / Mon-Fri)

Duties:

An intern over paid internship will be assisting in general office management, international marketing in foreign markets, making translations from Russian into English and vice versa, scheduling meetings, answering phone calls, dealing with correspondence and sub-contractors, preparing documents and presentations, drafting plans and reports, buying office supplies, contacting with businessmen, students and international organizations.

Requirements:

·         Should be a student (starting from senior) or a graduate majoring in marketing, management, business administration, IT, economics, international relations or related field. Current grades for student applicants should not be lower than 4s and 5s. Honored diploma is a plus. For graduates it is possible to apply for a full-time job (please, indicate expected salary).

·         Strong motivation, quick learning skills, ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines, strong knowledge of English language, Word, Excel, Power Point, Email and internet. Fluent typing skills will be considered as advantage. Successful experience of applying for grants is a plus.

Internship/ Position is paid: interns receive reimbursement for transportation and lunches (50 $ per month). 

Upon successful completion of internship there will be award of Certificate and possible extension to a position of Manager Assistant (start salary: 200-300$ + bonuses).

Стажер/ Ассистент (на 3 месяца/ не менее 4 часов в день / Пон-Пят)

Обязанности:

Стажер в течении практики будет оказывать содействие в общем управлении офисом, участвовать в маркетинге на иностранных рынках, переводить с русского на англ.яз. и наоборот, назначать встречи, отвечать на телефонные звонки, работать с корреспонденцией и другими служащими, готовить документы и презентации, составлять наброски планов и отчетов, закупать офисные принадлежности, контактировать с бизнесменами, студентами, межд.организациями.

Требования:

·         Должен(жна) быть студентом последнего курса ( 4-го курса и выше) либо иметь законченное образование по специальности: маркетинг, управление, бизнес, ИТ, экономика, международные отношения или смежгные дисциплины. Для студентов-аппликантов текущие оценки должны быть не ниже 4 и 5. Для выпускников диплом с отличием является преимуществом. Имеющим законченное образование может быть сразу предложена работа ( пожалуйста, укажите зарплату, которую Вы ожидаете получать)

·         Должен(жна) иметь заинтересованность в работе, уметь быстро усваивать новое, выполнять несколько заданий в намеченные сроки, отлично знать английский язык, MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Email и интернет. Умение быстро печатать и предыдущий похожий опыт будут рассматриваться как преимущества. Успешный опыт получения грантов и подачи грантовых заявок является преимуществом.

Стажировка оплачивается: стажеры получают сумму для покрытия транспортных расходов и обедов (50 $ в месяц). При успешном прохождении стажировки выдается Сертификат и возможно предложение по работе в качестве Ассистента менеджера (с начальной зарплатой 200-300$ + бонусы).
