THE BIGSSS-HWK VISITING FELLOWSHIP. DEADLINE: OCTOBER 20,
2013
The
BIGSSS-HWK Visiting Fellowship is an international researcher mobility program
offering a 6-month research stay at two renowned academic institutions in the
social sciences: The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (HWK), one of Germanys leading institutes for advanced study
across disciplines, is a foundation of the federal states of Bremen
and Lower Saxony and the city of Delmenhorst University
of Bremen and Jacobs University
The program
supports research by outstanding scholars in the social sciences (e.g. Sociology,
Political Science, Psychology and Demography). Fellows benefit from exceptional
intellectual and research conditions. They enjoy both the stimulating
environment of a multi-disciplinary and international community of first-rate
scholars and a graduate school with an outstanding faculty, innovative teaching
concepts and an international body of excellent Ph.D. students and Postdocs.
We expect our
visiting fellows to have a presence at both institutes, to participate in
regular activities of the HWK and to engage in doctoral education/supervision
at BIGSSS including teaching a minimum
of one course
and taking part in the regular Ph.D.-colloquium. The BIGSSS-HWK Visiting
Fellowship offers financial support and accommodation.
The
BIGSSS-HWK Visiting Fellowship welcomes applications worldwide from promising
postdoctoral scholars to leading senior researchers. The integration of most
major social-science disciplines into one school is a key asset of BIGSSS, its
umbrella theme is “Changing Patterns of Social and Political Integration“.
Applicants should have research and expertise in one or more of BIGSSS' three
thematic fields:

Global Governance and Regional Integration
·
Welfare State, Inequality and Quality of Life
·
Changing Lives in Changing Socio-Cultural Contexts.
Application
and Deadline
Application
material to be submitted includes
1)
a research exposé (max. 4 pages),
2)
an abstract (max 1500 characters),
3)
a CV and
4)
a publication list.
Explanatory
notes:
(1)
The exposé should provide detailed information about the
planned research project and its relation to BIGSSS’ academic program. This
includes standard information such as the topic or research questions, how the
topic or research question is embedded within current research, e.g. reasons
why the project is original and relevant. Information about the methodology
(“approach”, perspective) and methods should be included. A reference list of
the literature mentioned in the project outline must be included. The
evaluation of Fellowship applications involves scientists from different
disciplines. The exposé, therefore, should be composed in a form that makes
apparent the relevance and outstanding quality of the project and the
applicant’s expertise, even to reviewers of the social sciences who are not
immediately familiar with the precise subject area.
(2)
The abstract should be a summary of the Fellowship project
for specialists in your field of research. The abstract should be submitted as
a MS Word-compatible text file (doc, docx, rtf) and not as a PDF! Its length
should not exceed 1500 characters including blanks. Should an application be
successful the abstract may be used for public relation purposes of BIGSSS and
HWK.
(3)
The curriculum vitae should be in table form, and may be
arranged either chronologically or systematically.
(4)
There are no specific requirements with respect to the
format of the list of publications.

RESEARCH BEYOND THE IVORY TOWER: POLICY AND COMMUNICATIONS
TRAINING FOR UNIVERSITY TEAMS. DEADLINE: OCTOBER 28, 2013
Research
Beyond the Ivory Tower: Policy and Communications Training for University Teams
The project
focuses on strengthening the competence of university lecturers in the South
Caucasus and Central Asia .
The aim of
this project is to increase the capacity of university professionals in the
South Caucasus and Central Asia to participate
in and set the agenda for public debate. The project will be implemented in two
cycles (2013-2015 and 2015-2016). In each cycle we select up to ten
university-based research teams from the eight countries targeted in the
project (Armenia , Azerbaijan , Georgia ,
Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Tajikistan ,
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan
Selection is
based on quality and policy-relevance of the proposed research projects.
Emphasis is placed on enabling the teams to communicate the results of their
research to relevant stakeholders and the broader public.
During each
cycle of the project, three training/networking events will take place: a
six-day advanced training workshop in Oslo ,
mid-term meetings in Tbilisi and Almaty, and a
concluding final workshop in Oslo
Deadline for

Правительство Кыргызской Республики приглашает экспертов и всех
заинтересованных лиц принять участие в форуме «Государственная политика и
стратегирование: построение эффективного партнерства», который пройдет 29 и 30
октября 2013 года в Бишкеке (отель
"Ак-Кеме") при поддержке Программы «Общественное управление» Фонда
Сорос-Кыргызстан.
Целью форума является создание устойчивой коммуникационной площадки для
молодых лидеров, экспертов и Правительства КР для обсуждения важных вопросов
государственной политики, а также совместного поиска и применения практических
решений.
Заявки (как индивидуальные, так и групповые) на участие в форуме
принимаются от экспертов и заинтересованных лиц в следующих областях:

Job
description
MFR is looking for an experienced financial
analyst with a proven track record in microfinance or related fields. The
candidate should have the potential to also gradually take over managerial
and/or technical functions.
The analyst will be joining a dynamic and
international team of microfinance rating specialists in Bishkek - Kyrgyzstan Russia
The analyst will be involved in the whole process
of the rating mission, from preliminary data analysis to field visit and report
drafting. Training on the job will be initially provided through missions
performed with senior analysts.
Required
skills
·
Minimum 5
years of previous relevant experience (microfinance, rating, audit, accounting,
finance/banking, financial analysis);
·
Excellent
written and verbal communication skills in English and Russian;

Knowledge of
other regional languages is an asset;

distributed among 5 countries, Central Asia is
ranked as “medium HDI”. Since the fall of the Soviet Union ,
the region has taken minimal steps toward democracy and the 2008 economic
crisis hardly impacted the local systems. Health services and higher education
remain poor and the medical approach of disability inherited from the Soviet
period is still predominant.
HI succeeded in developing a significant level of
activities in Tajikistan
with 3 new projects launched in 2011, while one project is being implemented in
Kirghizstan

To develop
HI projects portfolio in Kirghizstan
and use lessons learnt from the currents projects in Tajikistan
·
To explore
possible activities and resources in Kazakhstan
·
To develop
countries based projects which would lead to build regional dynamics and
synergies among actors in the field of disability, with a focus on DPO’s.
While projects and mission is relatively well
established in Tajikistan ,
there is a strong need to develop projects in Kyrgyzstan
Job Description:
The position has a strong focus on developing
projects in Kyrgyzstan Bishkek , Kirghizstan Tajikistan
Externally you will be in relation with various
stakeholders, including authorities, partners and donor.
As a Regional Technical Coordinator you will work
under the supervision of the Program Director and you will have a close
functional link with the Technical Resource Division (DRT). You will be
mandated by the DRT to implement Handicap International technical policies,
methods and approach at the level of the regional program. You will be
responsible for the technical and methodological quality of the projects within
the program, the development of staff technical competencies as well as for
mobilizing the resource locally.
Your Main Responsibilities:
